About Us
MentorGNV at the University of Florida is a nonprofit that is dedicated to providing Alachua County's K-12 students with mentors. MentorGNV provides students in Alachua County with students that are committed to forming positive connections and lasting relationships through companionship, kindness, and unconditional support. Mentorship can mean all sorts of things; whether it's helping someone with their times tables or talking about future goals, the most important thing a mentor can do is "BE THERE" for their mentee. Outside of the classroom, MentorGNV is dedicated to connection with Alachua County Public Schools through science outreach initiatives as an organization. These are exciting for students and helps mentor-mentee relationships flourish in a different and exciting way. We also aim to speak up for the education system, utilizing our perspectives as mentors to advocate for our students to help them get the most out of their education.
Mentoring Programs
1
Elementary Mentoring
Mentors work with elementary school students in a group or one-on-one setting. Mentors provide companionship and unconditional kindness to mentees through a variety of ways. Whether it be through helping your mentee color or a game of hangman, mentors develop a unique relationship with their mentees.
2
Middle School Mentoring
Mentors work with middle school students on a one-on-one basis. Middle school can be a challenging time because of new adjustments in our mentees' lives. Mentors provide a listening ear and unconditional support so that our mentees have a constant they can navigate this time with.
3
High School Mentoring
Mentors work with high school students and other mentors in a group setting. This is a great way for mentors to connect and work with an older age group. Mentors can offer advice about college applications, standardized exams, and general life advice about how to best navigate the high school process.
